The Lab Is Open!
Thanks to grant funding, Wildflower Healthcare was able to install an on-site laboratory. We will be able to do more than 20 blood tests with a finger prick, as well as precise urinalysis in house.
Equipment was installed and four staff members completed Heart to Heart Point of Care training in mid-September. (Pictured with their certificates, left to right, are Medical Assistant Ashley Mayo, Dental Assistant April Jackson, Executive Director Michelle Colee, and Clinical Coordinator Christina Embry. Now qualified volunteers who want to help can be trained to further expand our knowledge base.
Patients will no longer have to travel to the hospital for many common tests. This is great, because many of our patients have transportation challenges that are a barrier to getting lab testing done. Now there's no need to make a second appointment at the clinic and wait for results.
Wildflower was able to secure funding for many needed upgrades in the last year, including computer equipment, a new roof and A/C, solar panels to cut down utility bills, and now the lab. Watch for information about an open house soon! We can't wait to show everyone how we're putting it all to good use saving and changing lives in the clinic.
