Volunteer Spotlight: Cindy DeLoach
With our focus on outreach this issue, meet Cindy DeLoach, an RN who is an important member of the outreach team. Cindy was born and raised in Georgia, and moved to St. Augustine two years ago when she retired. She and her husband have two children, one here and one in Atlanta. She loves walking the beach, going to the gym and playing with her Cockapoo.
Cindy has been in nursing for more than 40 years, working primarily in the OR, PACU and Orthopedics. Cindy explains, "Soon after I moved here, I met Lori Remensnyder in a Bible Study and before long she, as I like to say, 'roped' me into working with Wildflower as well as other volunteer opportunities.
"I’m happy that retirement allows me to do the volunteer work I always wanted to but didn’t have time for. St. Augustine has so many wonderful programs for the needy, but I’m happy that I work with Wildflower as the clinic and outreach program in our community is so diverse. I feel a connection to the folks I’ve come to know. Their needs are many and their hardships are difficult but most manage everyday through faith and tenacity.
They have touched my life by their stories and have allowed me to be engaged in their lives."
Beautifully said, Cindy. Thank you for all you do!
